Indian Chapati Bread Recipe

This recipe for chapati is easy and tastes great. You can use this Indian bread to wrap a sandwich or serve it with curry. Have fun!

– 1 cup whole wheat flour – 1 cup all-purpose flour – 1 teaspoon salt – ¾ cup hot water or as needed – 2 tablespoons olive oil or vegetable oil

In a big bowl, mix AP flour, whole wheat flour, and salt. Add the oil and water and stir with a wooden spoon. If you need to, add more water and mix until a soft, stretchy dough forms.

STEP  1 .

Spread some flour on a surface and knead the dough until it is smooth. Cut the dough into 10 equal pieces, or less if you want the chapatis to be bigger.

STEP 2.

Make a ball out of each piece and set it aside for a while. Set a pan that has been lightly greased over medium heat.

STEP 3.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out dough balls with a rolling pin until they are very thin. Put a chapati in the pan when it starts to smoke.

STEP 4.

Take it out of the oven and flip it over. Cook for another 30 seconds or until the bottom has brown spots. Do it again to cook the rest of the chapatis.
