Gluten-Free Crepe


Gluten-free crepes offer a delectable alternative to the traditional French treat, allowing those with gluten sensitivities to indulge in this delightful dish without compromising on taste. Made with a simple combination of gluten-free flours, these crepes are light, thin, and versatile, perfect for both sweet and savory fillings.


 – 1 cup gluten-free all-purpose flour – 2 tablespoons tapioca flour – 1 1/2 cups almond milk (or any other non-dairy milk) – 2 large egg – 2 tablespoons melted butter (or oil) for the batter – 1/4 teaspoon salt – Additional melted butter or oil for cooking



In a mixing bowl, combine the gluten-free all-purpose flour, tapioca flour, and salt. In a separate bowl, whisk together the almond milk, eggs, and melted butter. Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, whisking continuously until a smooth batter is formed. Allow the batter to rest for about 15-20 minutes to ensure optimal consistency. 


Step 1

If the batter seems too thick after resting, add a little more almond milk until it reaches a pourable consistency. Stir gently to incorporate any additional liquid.


Step 2

Place a non-stick skillet or crepe pan over medium heat. Brush the surface with melted butter or oil to prevent sticking. Ensure the pan is well-heated before pouring the batter.


Step 3

Pour a small amount of batter (approximately 1/4 cup) into the center of the hot pan. Quickly lift and tilt the pan to spread the batter thinly and evenly across the surface. Cook the crepe for 1-2 minutes until the edges begin to lift and the bottom is lightly golden. Flip the crepe using a spatula and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes on the other side.


Step 4

Once cooked, transfer the gluten-free crepe to a plate and repeat the process with the remaining batter. Fill the crepes with your favorite sweet or savory fillings, such as fresh fruits, Nutella, whipped cream, or sautéed vegetables and cheese. Fold or roll the crepes and serve immediately for a delightful gluten-free treat.
